The Law School holds the following endowed professorships and chairs.

James E. Beasley Professors of Law

Established by alumnus James E. Beasley '56. The Professorships are currently held by Professor David Kairys, Professor Laura Little and Professor Scott Burris.

Phyllis W. Beck Chair in Law

Established in 1997 by the Independence Foundation in honor of Superior Court Judge Phyllis W. Beck'67. Previously held by Professor Carrie Menkel-Meadow of Georgetown University Law School, and Theodore M. Shaw, Esq. Associate Director and Counsel of the NAACP INC Fund.  Professor Sylvia Law will hold the Beck Chair in 2005.

Laura H. Carnell Chairs in Law

Currently held by Professor Robert J. Bartow and Professor Michael E. Libonatti.

Jack E. Feinberg '57 Professor of Litigation

Established by alumnus Jack E. Feinberg. The Professorship is currently held by Professor Theresa Glennon. Previous Feinberg Professors include Professor Edward D. Ohlbaum, Professor Anthony J. Bocchino and Professor Louis M. Natali.

Charles B. Klein Professor in Law and Government

Established in friends and colleagues of The Honorable Charles B. Klein '27. The Professorship is currently held by Professor Jeffrey Dunoff. Previous Klein Professors include: Professors Alice Abreu, Richard B. Cappalli, Phoebe A. Haddon and Ameila Boss.

Harold E. Kohn Chair In Law

Established in 2004 by a $2 million contribution from the Kohn Foundation and The Barrack Foundation.  The Chair will provide for the appointment of a distinguished member of the law faculty.  It is endowed in perpetuity.

Peter J. Liacouras Professor of Law

Established in honor of President Peter J. Liacouras by the Gittis Family Fund. The Professorship is currently held by Professor Nancy Knauer.. Previous Liacouras Professors include: Professor Jane B. Baron, Professor Richard K. Greenstein., and Professor Henry J. Richardson, III.

James G. Schmidt Chair in Law

Established in honor of James G. Schmidt '28 and currently held by Professor James Strazzella.

I. Herman Stern Professor of Law for Teaching

Established in honor of Professor I. Herman Stern. The Professorship is currently held by Professor David G. Post. Previously held by Professor Frank M. McClellan, Professor Robert J. Bartow, Professor JoAnne A. Epps and Professor Donald R. Price.

I. Herman Stern Professor of Law for Research is currently held by Professor Jan Pillai. Previous Stern Research Professors include: Professor David A. Sonenshein, Professor Mark C. Rahdert and Professor William J. Woodward, Jr.

The Judge Charles R. Weiner Professor of Law

Established in honor of Charles R. Weiner '49 who serves on the U.S. District Court of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.  Judge Weiner was appointed to the Court in 1967 and assumed Senior Status in 1988.  In addition to his J.D. from Temple University, he holds a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania.

The John Lindsey Memorial Fund.

This Fund supports faculty scholarships with faculty internships with Green and provides students support for the Summer Abroad Program.

Law Class of 1966 Fund

Established in 1967 by members of the Law School Class of 1966 to support the Law School.

Law Program in Greece Fund

Established in 1993 by former Temple University President, Peter J. Liacouras, to support the summer law program in Greece.

Blanche and A. Groh Schneider Fund

Established in 1963 by A. Groh Schneider, Law '37, for the general purposes of the Law School.

The Murray H. Shusterman Fund - Israel Program

This Fund supports faculty exchanges with Israel and provides student support for the Summer Abroad Program in Tel Aviv

The Starr Foundation Fund.

This Fund supports the LL.M. Program in Beijing, China.

Frederick A. Tomkins Memorial Fund

Established in 1989 by a bequest from Frederick A. Tomkins, Law '12, to provide general support for the Law School.

The Honorable Clifford Scott Green Lectureship

This Fund was created to perpetuate the civil rights legacy of Judge Clifford Scott Green '51and to honor his distinguished service to Temple University.  The inaugural lecture was delivered in 2003 by Drew S. Days, III, The Honorable Nathaniel R. Jones gave the 2004 lecture, and The Honorable Damon Keith will deliver the 2005 lecture. (link to lectureship committee, date and title of talk).

The Herbert F. Kolsby Distinguished Lectureship in Trial Advocacy

This Fund recognizes and honors Herbert F. Kolsby '51 for his accomplishments and career and for his contributions to the Masters in Trial Advocacy Program at Temple.  Lecturers include Morris Dees in 2003 and David E. Kendall in 2004.  The 2005 Kolsby Lecturer will be Bryan Stevenson (link to date and title of talk)

The Herbert Myers Lecture Fund

Established in memorial by former colleagues of Professor Myers in 1978.  Professor Herbert Lowe Myers was a gifted and consistently acclaimed classroom teacher who joined the Temple University Faculty in 1965.  In 1978 he received the Christian  R. and Mary P. Lindback Foundation Award for distinguished teaching.  The Honorable Barney Frank was the most recent lecturer.

Established to support faculty scholarship through student research assistantships.

The Friel/Schanlon Fund

The Fund was established through the generosity of the Estates of Francis S. and Sara G. Scanlan Friel and the generosity of their nephew, Francis A. Scanlan'50.  The fund honors law faculty scholarship and provides an annual award for the publication deemed most outstanding by the law faculty.  Recipients include Professors Jeffrey Dunoff, Scott Burris, William J. Woodward, Jr., David Kairys, David A. Skeel, Amelia H. Boss, Frank M. McClellan, Laura E. Little, Henry J. Richardson, III, Richard B. Cappalli, Edward Ohlbaum, Michael J. Provides support for students working as faculty research assistants.

Established in 1948 from the estate of Lucas Hirst to support the operation and maintenance of the Law School Library.

Jacob Kalish Book Fund

Established in 1990 by Mrs. Hattie Kalish in memory of Judge Jacob Kalish, Law '38, for the purchase of books for the Law School Library.

Eva Ostrow Law Library Fund

Established in 1989 by a bequest from Eva Ostrow, in memory of her brothers and parents, to provide support for the Law Library.

David Adamany Award in Constitutional Law Fund

Established in 2001 by Temple University President David Adamany to provide an annual prize to an outstanding student in constitutional law.

Sylvan C. Balder Scholarship Fund

Established by friends of the Beasley School of Law to aid worthy students who demonstrate financial need.

Barenkopf Awards

As a memorial to Benjamin Barenkopf and P. Edward Barenkopf, the late Carrye G. Barenkopf bequeathed a substantial sum for scholarships to be known as the Barenkopf Awards. The third-year day and evening students with the highest scholastic rank are chosen annually as the Barenkopf Scholars and receive full tuition scholarships.

Barrack Public Interest Fellowship Program

Established by the Barrack Foundation in 1995, the program loans funds to eligible graduates who are working full-time in law-related public interest positions and who would be otherwise unable to meet their annual educational loan payments.  If a graduate remains in a qualifying position for six years, whatever funds have been "loaned" to them at that point are forgiven, and the graduate does not have to replay anything to the Program.

James E. Beasley Scholarship Fund

Established in 1999 by James E. Beasley, SBM '54, LAW '56, the Beasley Scholars program provides full tuition scholarships in the first year of law school and half tuition scholarships in each additional year to students who demonstrate both financial need and academic excellence.

The Honorable Louis C. Bechtle '54 Scholarship Fund

Established in 1997 by former and current law clerks of Judge Bechtle, SBM '51, LAW '54, as well as colleagues and friends in honor of his twenty-five years on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. The scholarship is awarded to a second-year day or third-year evening student who exhibits the most promise in criminal law.

Arthur L. Berns Memorial Prize in Real Estate Law Fund

Established by family and friends in memory of Arthur Berns to provide an award for students who demonstrate excellence in real estate law.

Caren Blumenthal (CLA '72, LAW '78) Memorial Fund

Provides financial aid for students who demonstrate high scholarship, integrity and financial need.

Andrew Bralow Scholarship

Established in 1995 by friends and family to honor the memory of Andrew Bralow, LAW '77. This scholarship is awarded to a law student who has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to public service.

The Honorable Raymond J. Broderick Scholarship Fund

Established in 1996 by Judge Broderick's law clerks and staff to honor his twenty-five years as a United States District Judge for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. This scholarship is awarded annually to a second-year day or third-year evening student who exhibits the most promise in the study of constitutional law and demonstrates financial need.

Harry and Esther Brown Foundation Scholarship

Established by Stephen A. Feldman '81 to provide scholarship assistance for full-time day or regular evening students who have made outstanding achievements in Health, Aging or Disability Law, or other work related to aging issues or who show great interest and potential in one or more of those areas.

Horace G. Brown Scholars in Law

Established in 1996 by Horace G. Brown, LAW '28, to provide scholarships to Temple University law

students who demonstrate good character, academic achievement and financial need in each of the three years of law school.

Bernard S. Cheskin Memorial Scholarship

Established by his wife to perpetuate the memory of Bernard Cheskin, SBM '50, LAW '55. The scholarship is awarded based on ability and financial need with preference given to students who were undergraduates at Temple.

The Honorable Nicholas A. Cipriani Award Fund

Established in 2003 by the Justinian Foundation and the Charitable and Educational Trust of the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania - OSIA to provide for an award to a student who is a member of the Beasley School of Law Chapter of the Justinian Society.

The Honorable Vincent A. Cirillo '55 Scholarship Fund

Established in 1997 by Judge Cirillo's law clerks and staff in honor of his twenty-seven years as a judge on the Court of Common Pleas of Mongomery County and on the Superior Court of Pennsylvania, during which time he also served as president judge. The scholarship is awarded to a second-year day or third-year evening constitutional law student who demonstrates academic achievement and financial need.

Class of 1978 Scholarship Fund

Established by Susanna Lachs, LAW '78, in honor of her graduating class, this scholarship is awarded to a law student who demonstrates academic achievement and financial need.

Albert M. Cohen Memorial Award Fund

Established by the Lambda Sigma Kappa law fraternity to provide an award to graduates who render outstanding service to the School in the work of the Student Bar Association.

David and Jacob Cohen Scholarship Fund

Established in 1999 by the Cohen family in honor of David Cohen, LAW '52, and his father, Jacob Cohen, to provide scholarships to law students who have demonstrated academic achievement and financial need.

Martin Cohen (LAW '67) Family Scholarship

Established in 1996 to provide recognition and financial assistance to students whose backgrounds contribute to the diversity of the student body, who are culturally or educationally disadvantaged, and who demonstrate financial need.

Beth Cross Memorial Award Fund

Established in memory of Beth Cross, LAW '90, former executive director of the Legal Clinic for the Disabled, by her husband Marc Flood, CLA '78, LAW '90, to provide an award for a graduate who is planning a career in public interest law and has demonstrated Ms. Cross' commitment and dedication to providing legal assistance to underserved populations.

Patricia Drumm Crossen Award Fund

Established in 2000 by a bequest from Mrs. Crossen to provide for two awards to graduating students who have shown the greatest perseverance in achieving their goal of obtaining a law degree.

Myron H. Deutsch Memorial Award Fund

Established by his colleagues to honor the memory of Myron Deutsch, LAW '60, to provide an award for a student who excels in the trial advocacy program.

Catherine Donahue Memorial Award Fund

Established in memory of Catherine Donahue, LAW '32, to provide an award for the graduating student with the highest grade point average in estate counseling.

Julian Eule Scholarship

Established by colleagues and friends to honor Julian Eule, a member of the law faculty from 1977 to 1984. This scholarship is awarded to a third- or fourth-year student who, in the opinion of the faculty, wrote the best paper for submission to one of the law school journals in the area of federal or state constitutional law.

Faculty Centennial Scholarship

Established by the law faculty in 1995 to honor the School's centennial. The scholarship is awarded annually to a student with financial need who demonstrates academic achievement.

Stuart D. Fiel Scholarship Fund

Established in 2002 by the estate of Stuart D. Fiel, CLA '76, LAW '79, '95, to provide scholarships to Beasley School of Law students who have demonstrated academic achievement and financial need.

Irvin B. Fineman Memorial Fund

Established as a memorial to Irvin B. Fineman, SBM '36, LAW '40, the fund provides scholarships for second- and third-year law students who demonstrate financial need and high scholastic achievement.

Theodore Flowers Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established in 1983 in honor of Theodore Flowers, LAW '66, by his partners at White and Williams, together with contributions from his colleagues at the Bar Association, clients and friends. The fund provides scholarships for students in the evening division with the highest grade point average at the end of the first year. Recipients must be graduates of a Philadelphia high school.

Garfinkle and Corbman Trial Advocacy Scholarship Fund

Established by Gerald Garfinkle, LAW '67, and Scott Corbman to provide scholarships for students demonstrating financial need and aptitude in trial advocacy, with preference given to students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Andrew Gay Award Fund

Established in 2001 by Edward Chacker, CLA '68, LAW '70, in honor of Andrew Gay, LAW '63, to provide for an award to be presented to a student who excels in trial advocacy in the area of criminal law.

Eugene Gelfand (SBM '41, LAW '49) Memorial Fund

Established in 1987 by Elsie S. Gelfand and friends to provide financial aid to a second-year student who has demonstrated financial need and public service through law school activities.

Harriet Robinson Gillock Memorial Fund

Established by friends of Harriet Robinson Gillock, LAW '80, to perpetuate and honor her memory and to provide an award for the graduating student who most exemplifies Gillock's integrity and professional and personal dedication to her fellow students and the law school community.

Jack M. and Frieda Golden Prize Fund

Established in 1985 by Charles M. Golden, LAW '61, in honor of his parents, to provide annual prizes for students in the Beasley School of Law for legal writing and scholarship in the area of health care administration.

Donald M. Gravatt Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established in 1993 by Mr. Gravatt's colleagues and friends to provide scholarships for law students, preferably law enforcement officers, who have demonstrated academic achievement and financial need.

The Honorable Clifford Scott Green Scholarship Fund

Established in 1999 by current and former law clerks and staff of Clifford Scott Green, SBM '49, LAW '51, HON '77, in honor of his distinguished service as a federal judge. The scholarship is awarded to a second-year day or third-year evening law student who is committed to public interest law or pro bono legal service and demonstrates academic achievement and financial need.

Professor Samuel Gyandoh Award Fund

Established in 2002 by Temple University Chancellor Peter J. Liacouras in honor of Professor Gyandoh to provide a graduation prize for a student who is an International LL.M. candidate and who renders outstanding professional and personal service to the Law School community.

Lena L. Hale Memorial Prize Fund

Established in 1975 through a bequest by Lena Hale to provide for a prize to a graduate for outstanding extracurricular activities.

Edwin Hall Scholarship Fund

This fund provides scholarships to law students in their final year who demonstrate academic achievement and financial need.

William Beasley Harris (EDU '40, LAW '46) Memorial Fund

Established in 1984 by Patricia R. Harris to provide scholarships to law students who have demonstrated academic achievement and financial need.

The Honorable J. Sydney Hoffman (LAW '33 Scholarship Fund

Established in 1998 by David Cohen, LAW '52, to honor Judge Hoffman's distinguished service as a judge on the Court of Common Pleas of Philadelphia and on the Superior Court of Pennsylvania and provide scholarships to Temple University law students who have demonstrated academic achievement and financial need.

Hiliary Holloway Scholarship

Established in memory of their partner, Hiliary Holloway, EDU '56, LAW '64, by Marshall, Dennehey, Warner, Coleman & Goggin. The scholarship is awarded annually to an evening division student who best exemplifies the qualities valued by Mr. Holloway during his life: academic excellence, community service, and a commitment to justice.

Victor S. Jaczun Memorial Award Fund

Established in 1983 in memory of Victor S. Jaczun, LAW '63, to provide an annual award to students who excel in trial advocacy.

Josef Jaffe (LAW '33) Corporate Scholarship Fund

Established in 1993 by family and members of Jaffe's law firm to provide scholarships to second- and third-year corporate law students who have demonstrated academic achievement and financial need.

Seth Jamison (LAW '87) Memorial Scholarship

Established in 2001 by Judith J. Jamison, LAW '48, to provide a scholarship to a law student attending the summer program in Rome, Italy who demonstrates financial need.

Jacquelyn E. Davis Johnson Success Fund

Established by her daughter, Cheryl Renee Johnson, LAW '91, to perpetuate the memory and celebrate the life of Jacquelyn E. Davis Johnson and to provide an annual award to a student who demonstrates commitment to public service and the practice of law in the public sector, and who is a member of the Black Law Students Association.

Stewart P. Keeling Award Fund

Established in 1945 through a bequest from Reverend Stewart Keeling to provide a prize to the graduating law student who attains the highest grade point average.

Chong Joo Kim Scholarship Fund

Established in 1995 by Y. Peter Kim, LAW '78, and J. Susan Kim to provide a financial award to a Beasley School student who demonstrates financial need and displays evidence of commitment to the advancement of the interests of ethnic minorities in the U.S., especially Korean Americans. Priority will be given to students who are dues-paying members of the Asian/Pacific Islander American Law Student Association.

Terrence H. Klasky Memorial Award Fund

Established in memory of Terrence H. Klasky, LAW '72, to provide an award for the graduate who demonstrates outstanding achievement in banking, negotiable instruments or consumer protection.

Samuel E. Klein (SBM '68, LAW '71) Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established in 2002 by James E. Beasley, SBM '54, LAW '56, and others to provide scholarships for law students who demonstrate financial need and outstanding academic achievement in the area of constitutional law, particularly in the subjects of political and civil rights.

Jacob Kossman (LAW '35) Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established in 1991 by Estelle Gold Kossman, CLA '40, MED '43, to provide financial assistance to criminal law students who have demonstrated academic achievement and financial need.

Harry R. Kozart Memorial Prize Fund

Established in memory of Harry R. Kozart, LAW '32, to provide a prize to the graduate who attains the highest grade in a products liability course.

Kranzel Award Fund

Established in memory of Frank Kranzel and in honor of Sonia Kranzel by their son, Judge Isadore Kranzel, SBM '53, LAW '56, to provide an award for the graduate who writes the best paper in the areas of public service, state or local government regulations, or health law.

Robert S. Kravitz (SBM' 66, LAW '72, '78) Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established in 1991 by Stuart A. Kravitz, MED '76, to provide scholarships to second- and third-year Temple University law students who have demonstrated academic achievement and financial need and shown interest in the study of the law of taxation.

Judge I. Raymond Kremer and Clare Kremer Scholarship Fund

Established in honor of I. Raymond Kremer, CLA '42, LAW '48, and his wife, Clare, to provide scholarships for deserving students who demonstrate academic excellence and financial need.

Robert Lamberton Award Fund

Established by Samuel Rosenberg, SBM '31, LAW '35, to provide an award to graduates of the day and evening divisions who receive the highest grade in constitutional law.

Melvin Lashner Award Fund

Established in 2000 by Marilyn A. Lashner, SCT '79, in memory of her husband, Melvin Lashner, LAW '55, to provide an annual award to a law student who demonstrates outstanding achievement in the study of bankruptcy or commercial law.

Rita S. Levine '74 Memorial Award

Established by her family in memory of Rita S. Levine, LAW '74, in recognition of her devotion to public service to provide supplemental support to a student selected as a Public Interest Scholar.

Benjamin F. Levy '66 Scholarship

Established in 2001 by the family of Benjamin F. Levy, SBM '62, LAW '66, and the Temple Law Alumni Association to provide scholarships to students who excel in providing extraordinary service to the School community and who demonstrate financial need, with preference given to those who express interest in solo or small group practice.

James and Stella Liacouras Memorial Scholarship

Established in 1977 in memory of James Peter and Stella Lagakos Liacouras, parents of Peter Liacouras, the seventh dean of the Beasley School of Law and the seventh president of Temple University. In determining those students who are eligible, the School shall exercise discretion consistent with the spirit in which this fund was created: to honor the lives of James and Stella Liacouras, both immigrants from Greece, and their industriousness, humility and accomplishment.

John J. Mackiewicz Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established in 2001 by members of his law firm, Woodcock, Washburn, Kurtz, Mackiewicz and Norris, LLP to honor the memory of John J. Mackiewicz, LAW '96, and provide scholarships for third- or fourth-year students who excel in the area of intellectual property.

Elden S. and Mildred Magaw Memorial Fund

Established in honor of the late Elden S. Magaw, the first full-time faculty member of the Beasley School of Law, and his wife, Mildred, to provide a scholarship to a student who is financially needy and excels in the study of contract law.

Constance W. Maier (LAW '88) Memorial Award Fund

Established in 2003 by the Brehon Law Society of Philadelphia to provide an annual award to the student in the Beasley School of Law who attains the highest grade in the trusts and estates class.

Manchel, Lundy and Lessin Scholarship Fund

Established by Donald Manchel, SBM '55, LAW '58, Marvin Lundy, SBM '56, LAW '59, and Marvin I. Lessin, LAW '59, to provide scholarships for law students from the greater Philadelphia area.

Gene Mariano Jr. Memorial Award Fund

Established in 1984 by Judge Gene Mariano, LAW '30, in memory of his son, to provide awards for second year law students with financial need, who are in the upper half of their class, with preference given to students from Camden or Southern New Jersey.

Nellie Mariano Memorial Award Fund

Established in 1985 by Judge Gene Mariano, LAW '30, in memory of his wife, to provide awards for third-year law students with financial need, who are in the upper half of the class, with preference given to students from Camden or Southern New Jersey.

Joseph W. Marshall (LAW '54) Scholarship Fund

Established in 1992 by Professor Marshall's former students to provide scholarships for third-year law students who exhibit outstanding aptitude in the study of taxation and who demonstrate academic achievement and financial need.

Louis Matkoff '32 Scholarship Fund

Established in 1991 by Louis Matkoff, LAW '32, to provide scholarships to Temple University law students who demonstrate academic achievement and financial need.

Richard J. Noonan '88 Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established by members of the Class of 1988 in memory of their classmate who died during his last semester. The scholarship is awarded to students in their final year of studies who demonstrate financial need and excellence in the study of business law.

Donald Orlowsky Memorial Award Fund

Established in 1992 by friends and associates of Judge Donald Orlowsky to provide annual recognition and financial assistance to one or more students who demonstrate financial need and excellence in brief writing.

Israel Packel Memorial Award Fund for Distinguished Scholastic Performance

Established by members of Fox, Rothchild, O'Brien & Frankel, and by admirers and friends, in memory of Professor Israel Packel, faculty member, former Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and Justice of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, to provide awards to the graduating seniors in the day and evening divisions who have the highest cumulative averages.

Robert C. Podwil Memorial Prize Fund

Established by the partners of the law firm Reed, Smith, Shaw & McClay to honor Mr. Podwil, a partner in the firm and a distinguished member of the Beasley School faculty, to provide an annual award to a graduate who demonstrates excellent academic performance in the area of intellectual property.

Herman I. Pollock Memorial Fund

Established as a memorial to the late Herman I. Pollock, chief public defender of Philadelphia from 1946 to 1948, to aid needy law students.

Samuel Polsky Endowed Scholarship Fund

Established in 1997 by the Polsky family to provide scholarships to deserving Temple University law students who participated in the Samuel Polsky Moot Court Competition.

Joey Pozzuolo Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established in 2002 by Sharyn and Joseph (SBM '72, LAW '75) Pozzuolo to provide scholarships for law students who were either full time faculty members at Friends Central School in Wynnewood, PA for at least four years, students at Friends Central School for at least six years, or graduates of Friends Central School who attended for at least four years and demonstrate a strong academic background and financial need.

Donald Price Scholarship Fund

Created by faculty and alumni in honor of their former colleague and teacher, the fund provides financial support to a second- and third-year evening student so that he/she may pursue public interest or pro bono work during the summer.

Joseph W. Price III Memorial Award Fund

Established in 1982 by faculty and alumni in memory of Joseph W. Price, SBM '37, LAW '44, to provide an award for graduating seniors who demonstrate outstanding achievement in the law of taxation.

Arthur Raynes '59 Scholarship Fund

Established in honor of Arthur Raynes, LAW '59, becoming chancellor of the Philadelphia Bar Association to provide scholarships to students who demonstrate financial need and academic excellence.

J. Howard Reber (LAW '00) Scholarship Fund

Established to provide an annual award to a law student who exhibits financial need.

Robert J. Reinstein Scholarship

Established by the faculty and staff of Beasley School of Law in honor of Dean Reinstein's ten years ofoutstanding leadership and service as dean. This scholarship is awarded annually to the student in the day division with the highest general average at the end of the first year.

Henry J. Richardson III Award Fund

Established in honor of Professor Richardson for his personal contribution to critical thinking in the areas of international law, development and human rights and his dedication to fostering thoughtful scholarship, to provide an award to the student who writes the best paper in the area of international human rights.

Percival Roberts Rieder (LAW '32) Scholarship Fund

Established by Mary Taubel Rieder in honor of her husband to provide an award to a student who best exemplifies Mr. Rieder's commitment to the legal profession.

Owen J. Roberts Scholarship Fund

Established in memory of the late Justice Owen J. Roberts to provides scholarships to needy students who have successfully completed at least one year of law study.

Bonnie Rome Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established in 1992 by Joel E. Rome, CST '57, LAW '62, to provide scholarships to first-year law students who are Pennsylvania residents and demonstrate academic achievement and financial need.

Serena Dobson Ross Scholarship Fund

In honor of the 25th anniversary of the Temple chapter of the Black Law Students Association and the Law School Centennial, the scholarship was created by classmates, family and colleagues in honor of Serena Dobson, SBM '75, LAW '78, and her career as an activist, law student, assistant U.S. attorney, and community leader.

Leonard Rubin '49 Public Interest Scholar Fund

Established in recognition of generous gifts to the law school made by Leonard Rubin, SBM '43, LAW '49, to provide scholarships to incoming students who have a strong commitment to public interest work, exhibit leadership potential and intend to pursue a career in public interest law.

Alfred Sarowitz (LAW '49) Scholarship Fund

Established in 1989 by friends and partners in the firm of Margolis, Edelstein & Scherlis to provide scholarships to law students who demonstrate academic achievement and financial need.

Edwin L. Scherlis (LAW '64) Scholarship in Trial Advocacy Fund

Established in 2001 by Jerome M. Staller, CLA '67, '75, to provide scholarships to law students in the discipline of trial advocacy who have demonstrated academic achievement and financial need.

Daniel J. Schrull and Frances G. Schrull Scholarship Fund

Established in 1988 by Frances Schrull in memory of her husband, Daniel J. Schrull, CLA '31, LAW '35, to provide scholarships to law students, preferably from Pennsylvania, who demonstrate financial need and an interest in public service law.

Dr. Jacob Seltzer Memorial Fund

Established by the wife and daughters of Jacob Seltzer, MED '54, to perpetuate his memory and to encourage and inspire students who, because of financial problems, find it difficult to pursue the study of law as a second career.

Professor Peter Sevareid Award Fund

Established in 2002 by Chancellor Peter J. Liacouras in honor of Beasley School Professor Peter Sevareid to provide a graduation prize to an International LL.M. candidate who demonstrates outstanding academic studies.

Bertha and Albert M. Shapiro Memorial Scholarship Fund

Created in memory of Albert M. Shapiro, LAW '19, and his beloved wife, Bertha, to provide an award to a first-year law student who demonstrates financial need and who graduated from a public high school in Philadelphia, Bucks, Montgomery, Chester, or Delaware counties.

Milton C. Sharp Memorial Award Fund

Established in 1977 through a bequest from Milton C. Sharp, CLA '31, to provide an award to graduates of the day or evening divisions who receive the highest grades in land use planning.

Isadore A. Shrager Scholarship Fund

Established in 1992 by Harold E. Kohn, a member of the Temple University Board of Trustees, in honor of fellow Board member Isadore A. Shrager, LAW '38, to provide scholarships to third-year day or fourth-year evening law students who demonstrate academic achievement and financial need.

Sara A. Shull Memorial Award Fund

Established by Dr. and Mrs. Elden S. Magaw to provide an award for excellence in legal research and writing.

Lenard H. Sigal Memorial Award Fund

Established in 1984 by friends and colleagues of Lenard H. Sigal, SBM '52, LAW '55, to provide an award for graduates who demonstrate excellence in criminal law studies.

Stanley E. Silverstein Memorial Award Fund

Established in 1990 by his brother, Martin J. Silverstein, LAW '79, to provide an award for a student who displays outstanding aptitude in the study of law and who participates in the summer program in Israel.

Dean Carl Singley Scholarship Fund

Established in 2002 by Joe Tucker, LAW '89, in honor of Carl Singley, LAW '72, former dean of the Beasley School of Law, to provide scholarships for law students who are graduates of historically black colleges and demonstrate strong academic background and financial need.

The Honorable Dolores K. Sloviter Award Fund

Established in 1999 to commemorate the term of Dolores K. Sloviter, CLA '53, HON '86, as Chief Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and to provide an annual award to a student who writes an excellent paper in the areas of judicial administration or federal jurisdiction.

Smith and Leibel Family Law Award Fund

Established in 1986 by Elaine Smith and Shelley Leibel Szwalbenest, LAW '81, to provide an award for a law student who writes the best paper on a topic related to family law.

William R. Spofford Scholarship Fund

Established by the partners of Ballard, Spahr, Andrews and Ingersoll to honor their senior partner and former chair of the Board of Trustees of Temple University, William R. Spofford. This scholarship is awarded annually to one or more second- and third-year law students who are financially needy and have evidenced a capacity for outstanding legal scholarship.

John F. Street (LAW '75) Scholarship in Law and Legislative Internship

Established in 1993 by Carl E. Singley, LAW '72, professor of law and former dean, to provide scholarships for second- and third-year law students who are members of the Black Law Students Association. In addition, the recipient will have the opportunity to serve a legislative internship with the Philadelphia City Council.

Frances W. Sullivan Gift Fund

Established in 1963 by Francis W. Sullivan, Law '30, to be used to encourage research and writing by members of the Law School Faculty.

Sender and Janina Szwalbenest Memorial Award Fund

Established in 1996 by Ben J. Szwalbenest, SBM '78, LAW '81, in honor of his parents, to provide an award for a graduate who has immigrated to the United States and has rendered outstanding service to the Beasley School of Law and the community.

Tau Epsilon Rho Law Society Award Fund

Established in 2000 to provide an award for the graduate who writes the best paper on a topic related to professional responsibility and who best exemplifies the virtues of truth, ethics and righteousness.

Technical Advisory Services for Attorneys (TASA) Prize Fund for Outstanding Performance in the Field of Evidence

Established by Edwin H. Sherman, CLA '50, EDU '51, and Jay L. Rosen, CLA '50, EDU '51, co-founders of TASA, to provide an award for students who excel in the field of evidence.

Temple University Law Foundation Scholarship and Loan Fund

Established in 1960 for the purpose of raising money to support the law school. Law Foundation scholarships and loans are awarded to students with demonstrated financial need in January of each year.

Floyd Tompkins Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established by the Pennsylvania Credit Union in memory of Floyd Tompkins, LAW '36, to provide scholarships for law students with financial need, with preference given to students who are members of a credit union.

Evelyn M. Trommer Scholarship Fund

Established in 1993 by the estate of Judge Trommer, LAW '39, to provide scholarships for students who demonstrate academic achievement and financial need, with preference given to evening division students who are members of the Women's Law Caucus.

John W. Walter (LAW '70) Scholarship for Public Interest Internships

Established in 1993 by family, friends and colleagues to award grants to law students who are working in public interest positions and who exhibit Mr. Walter's commitment to serving indigent clients.

Paul Willig Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established in 2000 by Jeanne Willig to provide scholarships for law students who are Pennsylvania residents and who demonstrate academic excellence.

Sidney H. Willig Scholarship Fund

Established in 1992 by Sterling Winthrop, Inc. to honor Professor Willig, a long-time faculty member who taught food, drug and cosmetic and device law, and products liability.

George P. Williams III Memorial Fund

Established in 1984 by partners, associates and friends of George P. Wiliams, Law '44, to provide for an annual award for an outstanding faculty member and to purchase books for the Law School library.

Benjamin L. Winderman Award Fund

Established in 2000 by Benjamin Winderman, SBM '47, LAW '54, to provide for an award to a graduating student who demonstrates outstanding academic achievement in the JD/MBA program.

Sidney R. Zall Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established to honor Sidney R. Zall, who was an extremely able, active and conscientious member of thePhiladelphia Bar Association, to provide scholarships for law students in need who have demonstrated high scholastic ability, with preference given to those students residing in Philadelphia.

Jerry Zaslow (SBM '37, MED '40, LAW '71) Memorial Award Fund

Established in 1988 by Mr. and Mrs. Norman (SBM '67) Mittman to provide an award for a graduate who demonstrates academic achievement as well as well-rounded activity within the law school community.
