Stephen C. Rubino Presents “The Art and Science of the Practice of Law”

March 30, 2012- Temple Law students and alumni were treated to a rare opportunity on March 22nd when Stephen C. Rubino presented the 2012 Edward J. Ross Memorial Lecture in Litigation.  Mr. Rubino’s remarks, titled “The Art and Science of the Practice of Law,” discussed ten key strategies for becoming a better lawyer.

Among other insights, Mr. Rubino emphasized the importance of a strong work ethic, the ability to think on one’s feet, and working with the facts that are available.  Drawing from experiences that unfolded in his own practice, Mr. Rubino illustrated each of his points with candor, passion, and humor.

Over the last twenty-five years, Mr. Rubino has represented more than 1,000 claimants of early childhood sexual abuse in the United States and Canada.  He was among the team of attorneys who succeeded in winning the $1.2 billion in settlements from the Catholic Church for more than 700 sexual abuse survivors.  Rubino practiced law in the partnership of Ross & Rubino from 1992 until 2008 when his partner, Edward J. Ross ’69, for whom this lecture is named, died.
